Things to know about my project
Clayface: what is it?
- A clayface plushie is a stuffed animal with a face made out of clay sewed or glued on.

My original plan
I wanted to make a clown bear and my friend Mara gave me one of her old stuffed bears. I was planning on making the face lighter than the body and some clothes. But that isn't how it went.

How it went in action
I ran out of time and couldn't make the clothes and the face turned out way darker than I imagined! But I worked with it. I made a little bow tie and painted the paws the same color as the face to tie in the colors. He turned out adorable and I named him Ihop. Like the pancake place.

Collaboration

My friend Mara played a special role in this. She gave me the bear and I got the whole idea from her. I talked to her about it and got many ideas. Of course, I have to thank my mom. She bought me air dry clay to make the clayface. She also helped me with the bow tie.

I did most of the project by myself and didn't get much help from people. But when I asked for help everyone around me made sure to help as much as they could. I am very grateful for their help.

Drey Farmer

Hello, I am Drey Farmer and I don't like taking photos of me for school assignments. For my PIP I chose to make a clayface plushie. I successfully made it! I originally got the idea from my friend Mara. She got a clayface off of Etsy and showed it to me. I loved how creative the idea was and googled it. Turns out that it's a kinda popular thing! Then I was told about the PIP project and decided to make a clayface.

Final Project

A clayface plushie is a plushie that, instead of a normal face, has a piece of painted clay in place. I got my idea from my friend Mara who bought a clayface off of Etsy.

When making it, I cut off the face and sewed it back up. Then I started shaping air dry clay to make the clayface. I waited for it to dry then I painted it and put a protective coat over it. I started to sew the face and then I ran into a problem. I accidentally broke a piece of clay off the side and I couldn't sew the rest of the face on. I asked my mom for ideas to fix this and we glued the rest on and surprisingly it worked! I painted the paws and gave him a bowtie and he is done!

I am very happy with how it turned out. I named him Ihop like the pancake place. All of my friends love him and now I'm making one for my parents and i'm going to make ones for my friends Leah and Carmine.
